About the Artist:

Tania Yakunova

I’m Tania, a Ukrainian illustrator and visual artist based in London. My style is often described as full of bold colours, expressive forms, and a bitter-sweet narrative quality. I rely on the power of shapes, colours, and composition to convey emotions, often those I have no words for.

Bio:

I was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, and spent most of my adult life working in the creative industry; however, I only became a full-time illustrator in 2014. In 2023, I moved to the UK on the endorsement of Arts Council England and have been living in South-West London with my family and dog since then.

Artist statement:

I believe best work comes from merging different realms, which I do with illustration, fine art and ceramic.

Lately, in my personal practice I draw inspiration by looking closely into the natural world - where we all take our beginning as complicated human beings. I explore how memory and environment mould one’s identity. I find everyday’s circle of life deeply poetic and try to translate that feeling with my works.

Commercial work and collaborations:

Over the past decade, I collaborated with leading global brands, magazines, and publishers. My work has been exhibited internationally and featured in numerous publications, catalogues, and books. I’m honored to receive many professional awards like the World Illustration Award, SILA, Communication Arts, and more.
Whether working on personal or commercial projects, I seek to evoke emotions and capture the quiet magic of life as I believe visual art can speak more powerfully than words.
